WaterFire Providence

A can't-miss Providence experience — part festival, part art installation, part spiritual event that takes over the river. Bonfires float on the water while gondoliers pass and music fills the air. Check waterfire.org for scheduled dates (typically May–November).

RISD Museum

An eclectic museum of original works in all forms — not just RISD student work, but a vast collection from many famous artists. Free on Sundays. The RISD Store across the street has one-of-a-kind gifts by RISD students. A perfect Sunday morning walk.

Jewelry District Walking Tour

A 2-hour guided walking tour of the Historic Jewelry District — the loft's own neighborhood, and possibly the very building you're staying in. Learn about the district's history, architecture, and 100+ years of innovation. Book at Eventbrite (search "Guided Tour Historic Jewelry District").

La Gondola

Benefit Street & The Independence Trail

The Independence Trail is a self-guided 3-mile tour of 500 million years of Rhode Island history, architecture, and culture — marked by a painted green line on streets and sidewalks. Benefit Street is one of the most architecturally intact 18th-century streets in America. Contact the Providence Historical Society for guided tours.

Newport, RI

The Gilded Age mansions, Cliff Walk, Thames Street dining, and Narragansett Bay views. Take the seasonal ferry from Providence (mid-May to mid-Oct) — there's a bar on board. Castle Hill Inn has unparalleled views from The Lawn (note: the restaurants and bars are closed for fire restoration, targeting a Memorial Day 2026 reopening; the grounds and lodging remain open).

A pair of charming colonial waterfront towns. Visit Boat House Waterfront Dining in Tiverton for locally sourced seafood in a romantic riverside setting overlooking the Sakonnet River. Bristol, on Narragansett Bay, is just across the bridge — both make easy halves of the same drive.
